This is an editted version I created of a video produced by Challenge – of (very) rough weather sailing on their 72 foot Challenge yachts

I used this in a recent presentation on the Round Britain and Ireland Yacht race I took part in two years ago.

I showed this after the “What offshore yacht racing is *supposed* to be like” video to give people an idea of the reality of blue water yacht racing – which goes on no matter what the conditions are like.

The footage is mostly from the Round the World races – and a number of the scenes are *exactly* as we experienced in the gales we encountered in the Atlantic and northern North Sea…….

Quite a difficult task  as there’s a difference in the types of photos you think are artistically great, and those that people may actually buy.

More than just watering holes, these spectacular swimming pools are holiday destinations themselves



Being an avid armchair mountaineer, and having read quite a few books on various hair raising expeditions, the article in todays Shortlist magazine caught my attention.

Its about three Mountaineers:
Nick ‘Begbie’ Bullock;  Pete ‘ The Geek’ Benson (the more portly twin!) and Matt ‘Woof Woof’ Helliker, who will attempt the unclimbed SE ridge of Annapurna 3.

What w**kers, holding up the whole city like that.
Still I managed to get into work on time without too much hassle. Kind of helps when you live near the DLR – a smaller train line that isnt run by the same gang (union) who run the tube workers.

Came home and polished off half a bottle of fine Cabernet Sauvignon.
